Skaters Keep Achieving Through Education (S.K.A.T.E.) was established in 1993 to encourage, support, and reward youth hockey players who commit themselves to their schoolwork while enjoying the sport of hockey.
It is the goal of the S.K.A.T.E. program and the Coon Rapids Youth Hockey Association to increase awareness among youth hockey players that performance in the classroom is more important in life than their performance on the ice.
Student athletes graded on the chart below must have a Grade Point Average of 3.0(middle school) or 2.0(elementary school) or above.
Special education students may qualify with a letter from their case manager stating they showed above average performance.
1st Trimester Grades will be utilized.
All grades received during the designated grading period must be used to determine Grade Point Average.
No incomplete grades are allowed during the designated grading period. If a student receives an F or Incomplete, they do not qualify for S.K.A.T.E.
Parents are also encouraged to help by reminding your player about the importance of school and how they will be recognized for their good grades.
Report cards will be utilized to determine Grade Point Average, but S.K.A.T.E. respects individual privileges for privacy. CRYHA operate on the Honor System-no copies of report cards needed.
Middle School Grade Point Formulas(need 3.0 or better)
Elementary Grade Point Formulas(need 2.0 or better)
For each class, list the points that correspond with the letter grade for that class. Add all the points together and divide by the total number of classes. This formula should result in a number between 0 and 4. If the number is 3.0 or greater for middle school or 2.0 or greater for elementary school, the participating student athlete qualifies for S.K.A.T.E.
